Discover the Art of Magic at the Bookshop

 On Sunday, April 14th at 1:00PM, join five professional magicians as they share stories on the kinds of books that inspired them to learn the art of magic!  
The presenters expected to be on hand are Ferran Poage, John Sherwood, Philip Hagerty, Ron Carnell, and Eric Sullivan. They are members of Neil Foster Ring No. 89 of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, an organization devoted to furthering the art of magic. The group meets monthly at the American Museum of Magic.
This event is open to aspiring magicians of any age and anyone interested in the history of the art. It promises to be informative and fun for the whole family!
The Mitten Word Bookshop has an entire section devoted to magic books with special selections recommended by our hosts for the presentation.

Traveling Through Time: A Guide to Michigan's Historical Markers

 On Saturday, April 20th at 1:00PM, author Laura Ashlee will share some of her favorite historical sites found in her book, Traveling Through Time: A Guide To Michigan's Historical Markers.

As a historian with the State Historic Preservation Office,, Laura Ashlee has coordinated with the Michigan Historical Marker Program and authored over 500 historical markers throughout the entire state.

This event is perfect for history buffs and travellers alike. Learn some Michigan history and get ideas for your next roadtrip!

Your Genetics & Your Health: What You Need To Know

 On Saturday, May 4th at 1:30PM, experts in the field of genetics and genetic counselling will lead a presentation on heredity, the risk of well known diseases, and how genetics is helping individuals & families live better lives!
The presentation will take place at the Marshall District Library and is organized by The Mitten Word Bookshop with financial support from Oaklawn Hospital.
Books relating to the presentation will be availble for sale by staff from The Mitten Word Bookshop.
